I travelled to Nam On Village in 2007 and 2008. It is a 300 year old farming village in south-central China. China is an amazingly diverse country and the rural areas, which is where I was, still exhibit a sense of timelessness. The homes are rudimentary and the lifestyles are frugal, but the people are warm and welcoming, exuding a sense of dignity, grace and diligence.
The images in this limited edition portfolio are the result of those trips.
I prefer to show my work in the form of portfolios. The benefit of this is to be able to present ones vision in a broader sense. It is wonderful to create a single image that has strength and resonance but quite another to create a body of work which has depth and continuity throughout.
